Community Planning

Comprehensive Planning is the cornerstone of modern planning efforts.  Through the comprehensive planning process, planners evaluate long-range goals and objectives for all activities that affect growth and development of communities.  During the process, planners evaluate and make recommendations for action in areas such as land use, economic development, transportation, the environment, and housing.

Land use and zoning regulations are integral elements of the planning environment.  The planner must have an in-depth knowledge of land use and zoning matters in order to evaluate the potential impacts of planned and proposed projects on land use and to determine whether projects are in conformity with existing zoning ordinances.
